Our 1999 Buick Regal stops occasionally while we are driving it and sometimes will not start. We wait a while and it starts. Any idea what the problem is?

Same problem I had. You need a new ignition switch. Current one has a short which is disabling fuel pump, therefore shutting engine down while driving

Most likely it's an EGR valve problem. try unhooking egr then drive it, if the problem goes away, you just need to replace the egr valve.

i have a 2001 Chevy lumina and i am wondering if the ECM is going out, sometimes it will die when i am driving but starts right back up, sometimes it will die and not start up after several hours of sitting, then it starts up. Could this be the ECM?

My 93 VR4 has started doing this at 195K miles. It runs fine after this sputtering and occasionally backfiring and even dying. Then you can recrank it and drive all day. I am going to take it in but the bets are that it involves the choke cutting out. The timing is about right. If it were the injectors or filters then it seems that the problem would continue while driving. I am still drining it at present until time to take it in.
