With the successful cloning of animals, many people have reacted with frightening and usually judgmental ideas about what cloning is and what researchers hope to achieve through it. Many wish to ban all cloning without even looking at the positive things that cloning will be able to provide for us in the future and with continued research. Like any new technology, people are at first afraid, but this is no excuse to abandon research that could one day save millions of people through cloned organs or give an alternative and safe means of reproduction to sterile couples..

Did you ever imagine having a child that is the exact replica of you? Did you ever imagine of having the cure for Heart disease or cancer? Well, these fantasies are not far from reach. The way we could peruse these is through a process called cloning. There are many advantages and benefits including being able to save endangered species and have children if you're infertile. Firstly, one benefit of cloning can be used in the future of the medical field. Heart disease is the number one killer in the United States. Scientists predict that in the near future they will be able to clone healthy heart cells and inject them into damaged areas. Next, what would you do if you were unable to produce a child naturally? Modern science has made it possible to produce a child through cloning. For many people who are unable to have children cloning provides these persons with the hope of having a biological child of their own. Cloning can also be seen as a means of having a child without having sex. Cloning can effectively reduce the number of people with STD's. In addition, using the process of cloning, in the future we could save endangered species by replicating them and therefore increasing their population and keeping it far from extinction

What do you think of cloning?

Cloning is an interesting technology which, like other technologies, can potentially be used for either good purposes or bad purposes. It also needs a lot more research to achieve its potential either for good or ill.

What is the benefits of cloning?

Cloning in plants and animals can mean that stronger/more desirable characteristics and organisms could be replicated. An even greater benefit could be that "bad" characteristics might be eliminated.

Why are people against cloning?

Some people are worried that cloning technology might eventually be used for immoral purposes. People might, in theory, be mass-produced as slaves or soldiers. People could be cloned as a source of spare organs for the wealthy.

What is the advantage of cloning for farmers?

Cloning can help farmers reproduce high-quality livestock or crops with desirable traits quickly and efficiently. This can lead to improved yields, disease resistance, and overall productivity on the farm. Additionally, cloning can help ensure a consistent supply of superior genetic material for breeding purposes.

What might the implication of cloning mean for the future?

In theory, if we can get an organism that is perfect for our purposes (whatever those purposes may be) we can then make lots more just like it, by cloning. This can apply either to livestock, or to people. Maybe we would like to have lots of mathematical geniuses who can help us to advance our technology. Whether our cloning technology will ever be good enough for this to be practical, remains to be seen. So far it is a science fictional dream. But science fictional dreams sometimes do come true.

What is the difference between DH5 alpha and BL21 with reference to cloning?

BL21 is RecA+, whereas DH5alpha is RecA- and thus more appropriate for cloning purposes. BL21 also produces lower levels of proteases and thus better for expression of recombinant proteins.
