Bones have got very large reserve of calcium. So under the influence of calcitonin hormone and parathyroid hormone, the blood calcium level is maintained in very narrow range. Vitamin D is important for absorption of the calcium and also plays some role in maintaining the blood calcium level.

What hormone pairs are antagonists that regulate blood calcium ion levels?

Parathyroid hormone (PTH) and calcitonin regulate blood calcium levels. PTH increases the calcium concentration in the blood, and calcitonin decreases it.

The hormone that works with the parathyroid hormone to regulate calcium levels in the blood is called?

Calcitonin

What hormones are antagonists that regulate blood calcium ion levels?

parathyroid hormone/calcitonin

What hormone works with the parathyroid hormone to regulate calcium levels in the blood tissue?

Calcitonin

The hormone that works with the parathyroid hormone to regulate calcium levels in the blood and tissues is?

Calcitonin

What hormone regulates blood calcium levels?

Parathyroid glands secrete PTH (parathyroid hormone) to regulate blood calcium levels.

What gland has functions in the parathyroid hormone to regulate calcium levels in the blood and tissues?

The parathyroid glands produce and secrete parathyroid hormone which regulates calcium levels in the blood. Since it increases blood calcium levels, it promotes the function of osteoclasts, which reduce the calcium in bones and promote its increase in the blood stream.

Which of the following hormone pairs are antagonists that regulate blood calcium ion levels?

Calcitonin and PTH

What hormone is secreted by cells of the thyroid gland works with the parathyroid hormone to regulate the calcium levels in the blood and tissues?

calcitonin

Does calcitonin cause a decrease in blood calcium ion levels?

The hormone Calcitonin has the effect of reducing blood calcium levels. The hormone comes from the thyroid gland and works in basically three ways. 1. It works to slow absorption of calcium by the intestine. 2. It also inhibits the osteoclast (cells in bone that break down old bone tissue) that raise blood calcium levels. 3. It causes osteoblast (cells in bone that lay down new bone matrix) to form new bone. This explanation is at it's simplest form of course.

Does parathormone increase or decrease calcium levels in the blood?

It increases the concentration of calcium in the blood. Calcitonin decreases blood calcium levels.

What is the medical term meaning parathyroid hormone to regulate calcium levels in the blood and tissues?

Thyroid gland is normally called "thyroid gland" in medical terms. The combining form is "thyroid-".
