Rear Window Wiper Motor
Wiper Blade and Arm
1. Raise the cover over the wiper arm retaining nuts.
2. Remove the retaining nuts on the wiper arm pivots.
3. Match mark the wiper arms to the pivot for reinstallation.
4. Lift each wiper arm and free it from the pivot shafts.
Ø The wiper arms will most likely be stuck; a useful tool for removal of the wiper arms is a battery terminal puller. The battery terminal puller exerts force on the pivot and raises the arm, otherwise prying and other techniques could do damage to the wiper arms, trim, windshield, or painted surfaces of the vehicle.
Then lift the lift gate door open. Remove center strap and remove the door cover. Remove the door panel by carefully lifting the panel upward to release the retaining clips. Then you will see the Rear Window Wiper Motor. Remove the 3 or 4 bolts that hold the Rear Window Wiper Motor in place.
Ø The installation is the reverse of removal.
To install:
5. Place the wiper arm onto the pivot aligning the match marks.
6. Tighten the wiper arm retaining nuts.
Fasten the retaining nut covers
The front wiper arms on a 1997 Mercury Villager clip off once they are bent backwards. To install the new wipers simply slide them into the clip.
Pull the clips back and lift them off.
The 1993 Mercury Villager takes 22" replacement windshield wiper blades on both sides front.
From the 2002 Jeep Liberty Shop Manual: (1) Lift the front wiper arm to its over-center position to hold the wiper blade off of the glass and relieve the spring tension on the wiper arm to wiper pivot shaft connection. (2) Carefully pry the plastic nut cap off of the pivot end of the wiper arm (Fig. 11). (3) Remove the nut that secures the wiper arm to the wiper pivot shaft. (4) If necessary, use a suitable battery terminal puller to disengage the wiper arm from the wiper pivot shaft (Fig. 12). (5) Remove the front wiper arm pivot end from the wiper pivot shaft.
Rear Wiper Motor R&R Remove the rear pivot arm. Lift the pivot arm to the upright position. Slide the locking tab out. Pull up and remove the pivot arm. Remove the rear wiper motor shaft nut cover. Remove the rear wiper motor shaft nut. Remove the rear wiper motor cover. Remove the rear wiper motor bracket nut. Remove the bolt and the rear wiper motor. Reverse these steps to install.
Rear Wiper Motor R&R Remove the rear pivot arm. Lift the pivot arm to the upright position. Slide the locking tab out. Pull up and remove the pivot arm. Remove the rear wiper motor shaft nut cover. Remove the rear wiper motor shaft nut. Remove the rear wiper motor cover. Remove the rear wiper motor bracket nut. Remove the bolt and the rear wiper motor. Reverse these steps to install.
# Remove the wiper arms and blade assemblies. # Remove the cowl panel. # Remove the pivot shaft mounting nuts and push the pivot shaft toward the inside. # Remove the wiper motor mounting bolts. # Disconnect the linkage from the motor and remove. To Install: # Lubricate the wiper linkage. # Connect the wiper linkage to the motor. # Install the wiper motor to the firewall. # Pull the pivot shaft into position and install the pivot shaft mounting nuts. Tighten to 7-11 ft. lbs. (10-15 Nm). # Install the cowl panel. # Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies. # Check wipers for proper operation.
The switch just pops out of the dashboard.
The 1995 Mercury Villager wiper blade sizes are 22" wiper blades on both sides front and a 13" rear wiper. Do not buy by length only though. See Sources and Related Links below for more information. Since there are over 22 different wiper arm attachments - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.

Detach the small hose/line carrying washer fluid from the nozzle on the hatch door 2. pull the wiper arm from the axel of the motor, remove the wiper (if it is rusty, use flat head screw drive to remove) 3. Insert the wiper into new arm 4. Press the new wiper arm onto the wiper motor axel 5. connect the hose/line to the nozzle

It is usually locate on the firewall between the engine and the driving compartment. Read the owner's manual to understand where the wiper motor is located.
