To reset the maintenance required light on a 1989 Dodge D50, disconnect the battery. Leave it disconnected for 10 minutes before reconnecting it.
With the ignition switch in the off position, press and hold the odometer reset button while at the same time turning the ignition to the on position. After a few seconds the maintenance required light will go out.
To turn off the maint. req light (it comes on every 3k -5k mi. for oil change interval). After I change my oil I do the following: 1. depress and hold the odometer reset button 2. turn the ignition switch to on, then off 3 times (do not engage the starter), the third time the odometer will countdown "_ _ _ " then "_ _" then "_" then blank. 3. if the check engine light was just an oil change warning then the check engine light will go out.
