If your car is a Ford Taurus or Sabel there is a known defect... There is a technical service bulletin for water leaks on the passenger's side of the Taurus/Sable. Ford has come up with a revised cowl panel weather strip extension to fix this problem. In addition, sealer needs to be put around the fresh air inlet of the heater system. Apparently, Ford has found that water runs through the heater box and exits through the heater blower motor into the vehicle cabin on the passenger's side. Go to a Ford dealership to have the problem corrected. If the vehicle is still under warranty, it will be covered. Otherwise, you will have to pay for the work. Success to you. My car has pollen filter in the air intake system which blocked up and and developed the same symptons with water leaking into the passenger footwell. It is a five minute job to replace this filter.
Some are in the fusebox by the battery and others are above the fusebox in the passenger footwell.
