Transmission Fluid can make rubber expand check for leaks. as will and petroleum based oil if you used a grease gun on the boots make sure you used lithium grease. coulld be you filled them with too much grease or if you have Power Steering you might have fluid leaking into boots. if it has power steering fluid in the boot the grease will be really runny and you need a new rack and pinion.
pink liquid is leaking under the van. I think, it is steering pump problem
Replace it.
The characteristics of a power steering hose is it is a hard rubber thick enough to hold the fluid needed to make the power steering work.
you have a worn out steering gear box or the rubber coupler in the steering col-um is broken
No. Brake fluid is not a petroleum product. Power steering fluid is. Petroleum product will swell and ruin rubber part's brake system is full of rubber parts. You will destroy your brake system using power steering fluid.
If you are losing fluid, you need to find out where it is going. Usually it is pretty easy to find most leaks: out of the seals on the pump, out of the lines or cooler, out of the steering gear, or out of the rack and pinion. Sometimes you'll have to poke a small hole in the rubber boot on the rack and watch for fluid coming out. Your steering column wouldn't be the problem. Hope this helps.
vibration dampening
u need to grease ur rubber bushes in the steering column .
Yes it can, depending on what amount "a tiny amount" is. The fluids in cars today are specifically designed for their purpose. Brake fluid is designed to withstand heat (minimal expansion when heated), absorb moisture and interact with other materials such as rubber and does not lubricate like power steering fluid does. Lubricating oils (engine oil, Power steering fluid, Grease) attack the things they come in contact with making them slippery, but in contact with things like Rubber seals, the rubber will expand and sooner or later cause a failure.
I had the same problem, for years. Found out I had a broken motor mount. that did not act up. I replaced both because the rubber gets hard, they are cheap at auto zone $12 EA.
Either a seal or a hose is disintegrating
Grease the rubber boot that goes around the steering shaft as it goes through the firewall.
