change timimg belt its much cheaper
How do you change a timing belt on a 1998 Toyota Tacoma? And what part do I need to buy?
Ask for a Timing Belt Kit. This timing belt kit includes; 1 Timing Belt 1 Tensioner Pulley
Yes you can. But you will need special wrenches and at a garage. Also you should buy one of the manuals where you can find description of what kind of wrenches you need and how to change the timing belt for a particular model.
If you mean the tools to set the cam timing during a belt change none are available as this car is fitted with a timing belt
50,000-60,000 miles. Whoever changes the timing belt, recommend buy the kit (not just the belt) and be careful to keep timing marks aligned.
Buy Chilton's service manual from Kragen.
when you buy a replacement belt buy a kit that also contains idler pulleys. its best to change them all at once. it should have drawings to show you proper routing and installation instructions.
Separate issue, if you need too set the timing following a timing belt change or belt slippage then you have to set the mechnical timing of the motor. Go buy a Chilton or Haynes manual which will tell you where the marks are and you can properly set the timing before starting the motor.
Go to an auto parts house or a bookstore and buy a Haynes Manual.
THERE IS ALOT TO IT.FIRST GO TO AN AUTO PART STORE AND BUY A CHILTON BOOK...
129 teeth use a gates timing belt best on to buy
If you just buy the water pump it does not come with a timing belt, but the timing belt does have to be removed to access the water pump. You should replace the timing belt at this time. They do make timing belt kits with water pumps. I change several timing belt/water pumps every month. I recommend using Contitech timing kits. Contitech part number TB139K1 is a kit that comes with the timing belt and tension pulley. Purchase a good quality water pump separately, DO NOT use remanufactured water pumps. I use GMB brand water pumps. You will also want to purchase two camshaft oil seals, and a crankshaft oil seal(These seals can only be accessed with the timing belt off) I use Timken seals or Felpro seal sets. If you change all these parts while you have the car apart you will not have to worry about this service for a very long time.
