depends eat carbs before a workout for fat, possibly some types of fats if you're an endurance athletes
eat protein after a workout for muscle repair so i would recommend the carbs before exercise if you're going to do cardio training, or protein after a workout if you're going to do resistance training

∙ 13y agoExercising on an empty stomach causes your blood sugar to plummet, so you become exhausted halfway through your workout and can't finish. Exercising on a full stomach is very uncomfortable and gives you painful cramps.
Ideally, you should have a light snack that is high in complex carbohydrates (like a muffin, or a granola bar), 2 hours before exercising. After exercising, you can eat a full meal.

After. You break down muscle fibers when you lift weights. So they are screaming for nutrients and calories. Feed them.
you could eat before, but then have to wait an hour or so because blood is going to stomach to break down food. Best ‘food’ here is a liquid protein drink or shake.

No, you should eat protein before and after, but drink a lot of water during.
You should not eat anything. It just messes with your stomach. Eat a couple of hours before. Then do your workout. It's the best way to do it.
It is not mandatory but having a small meal before a workout doesnt hurt. It will give you the energy that you might require for a good workout. Remember not to have a full stomach meal before a workout as it is not recommended.
