Best Answer

Having a 1997 Mercury Villager, I would say "Yes'. I had some thoughts of a newer car, and I brought it to my mechanic and he said the engine was solid. I've had a few minor things over the past two years (fuel pump, battery, and thermostat) each amounting to no more that $150 in repairs (I have a good mechanic who doesn't overcharge). The car has over 270,000 miles on it and is going strong. It beats car payments any day. I keep the oil, air, and fuel filters changed regularly. I also maintain the many fluids and the car keeps on trucking along.

The motor mounts should not keep breaking if they are installed properly. The delay in the transmission indicates it needs work, probably a rebuild.

It can be, but I would use a tow dolly to keep from building a custom tow bar attached to the van.

Where is the spare tire and jack in a mercury villager?

On a 1997 Mercury Villager ( according to the Owner Guide ) the spare tire is under the back of the vehicle . There is a hex nut that has a plastic flip up cover on it in the floor of the cargo area that you use the lug wrench on to crank the spare tire down ( counterclockwise to lower the spare , keep the weight of the tire on the cable when cranking up or down so the cable does not get twisted ) and the jack is in a storage compartment that has a removable plastic panel , in the cargo area , on the passenger side

How do you charge 1996 mercury villager air conditioning?

Purchase a recharge kit from your local auto parts store. The kit will have everything you should need including directions. Keep in mind if the system needs recharging, you probably have a leak that should be fixed then the system should be evacuated. Sometimes it is best to have the professionals do it for you. They have the equipment and the knowledge.

1996 Mercury Villager will not turn over after changing timing belt Is it safe to keep trying or should you take it to the shop?

Unless the issue is electrical I would stop trying to start it. If all the wires are snugged properly it should start. If the problem is in the timing belt installation you might bend a valve or otherwise damage the engine.

What wrench do you need for the caliper mounting bolts on a 1996 mercury villager and what are the rubber collars for?

You need a 'Star' or 'Torx' wrench. The rubber collars keep dirt of the caliper mounting bolts so the caliper can 'float'

Why must you keep the sample containers free of mercury?

You must keep them free from mercury because mercury is toxic! Mercury is poisonous and should not be handled without appropriate oversight by professionals and adequate protective procedures. Your question doesn't clarify whether the mercury many be from the containers themselves or the contents, but it doesn't matter because mercury from a container can contaminate the contents.
