I think that playing of Halo should be left up to the parents. actually you first put the Halo game in the xbox then you want to make sure you have the xbox controller securley plugged in then power on the xbox and select what type of game you want to play!
first you should rent it. Halo Wars is teen, so you might want to rent that too. Watch some gameplay to see if it is OK. Watch over him to see if it has changed his personality. If not and you think it is fine then buy the game.
I am a 12 year old girl and I play Halo. In my opinion I think it depends on how the child is. Halo is a very bloody, game with creatures that look like something you would see in a Horror movie. I think if the kid is very sensitive then I warn you to not because there is a 99% chance they will have a series of nightmares, If the child has played games such as Call of Duty then you should let them because they are basically the same type of game.
edit: A more important question: Should you be aware of the kinda of people your 13 yr old plays Halo with online? Answer: Yes.

Previous answer by someone else: yeah mabe dependsAn eleven year old:The answer is Yes! a ten year old can play Halo I am an eleven year old who likes playing all Halo games, I've been playing Halo since I was six and played Halo Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars and Halo 3 ODST, I am smart enough not to follow the violence, foul language, etc..Note: I am the only one in my class who plays Halo while one of my friends tried it he said it was boring when to me it is a very fun game
no year old baby can not play halo.
it was banned because the highest rating that a game can go in Australia is 15 yrs old. if a game, like odst, is m rated it is banned because the m rating is 17 and older. anything over t in Australia is banned
in my opinion its totally ok for a 9 year old to play. I started at 7-8, nothing inappropriate
well that depends if they are mature or not
If they are mature enough and have good grades in school
No, it's rated mature 17+
if the boy is mature then yes if not then i would say no
