Possibly a BAYER 12 Gauge side by side ? Mine has two hammers and triggers. The trademark of a knight on horseback is inscribed on both barrels, and also 'Anc.Etabl.Pieper Herstal Belgium' inscribed on the barrel rail. Have any older shotgun checked by a gunsmith before using, it may not be up to modern loads. I cant find any other markings except for Occidential stamped on the side and it has a police shield on the but of the handle
Yes.
$100 to $250, depending on condition.
Yes. I just inherited a 12 gauge double-barrel with twin curled hammers. (I'm actually going to have them appraised.)
@ 100 USD depending on condition.
manufacturing turned toward internal hammers about 1870 just about the same time the transition from twist to fluid steel barrels appeared. keep in mind that side hammers still appeared on center fire shotguns using brass cased shotgun shells that first appeared about 1860. if it is a percussion cap shotgun its probably pre 1860.
Most likely a store brand made at the turn of the century
Belgian in origin, imported into the US for catalog/hardware sales in the late 1880's-1910. Value is minimal.
50-100 USD or so
To find hammers for old rabbit ear shotguns check with Dixie Gun Works
Try gun shows, libraries.
Recently purchased 10 gauge side x side black power shotgun. Has double external hammers and double triggers. Stamped on top between barrels in front of hammers is WN More + Co. Superior Quality. Any information would be helpfull. Thanks
BRANDY - Your shotgun was probably manufactured between 1886 and 1916. The SxS has been around a long time. With the info given your gun may have been built in 1750 or it may be a new import from 2008. They have never stopped makeing this type of gun.
