Check the battery ... Most likely needs replacing with a new one.
There are pull in windings and hold in windings in a solenoid on a starter. The pull in pulls the starter gear into the ring gear on the engine then the hold in takes over and allows more power for the starter to turn the engine.
im not sure about a 2006 mine is a 2007 it takes only 3.6 qt do not over fill you will be in alot of trouble
There's probably no problem with the starter. The solenoid sounds like the problem. It is the little round thing with the wires hooked to it forward of the starter on your model. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before removing it and remember which posts the wires are on.
check the starter motor.
u need to replace the starter solenoid
Take off the cat portion on the starter side and that will allow you access to the starter. From there just unhook the wires on the starter and take out the two starter bolts. If you need more help, feel free to jump over to Smokinvette.com and you can see nice write ups with diagrams and pictures on how to do this.
Have you checked your starter? If it clicks but does not turn over this is probably the issue. If you have a pipe, lug wrench, or retractable baton(my preference), tap the starter housing a few times pretty hard. Tapping the casing may help un-seize(?) your starter gear which is preventing the starter from cranking. The ultimate correction for your problem though would be testing your starter and possibly replacing it. Have you checked your starter? If it clicks but does not turn over this is probably the issue. The price for a Sportster exhaust can vary widely depending on where you buy it to what model of it you want. They range in price from a couple of hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars for a high end model.
broken tooth on the fly wheel if your starter is turning over and not just spining what's wrong if the starter's just spinning?
If the battery and starter is cranking the engine over, the engine needs fuel, compression and spark to run. More info would help us help you.
My Sportster has a drain hose that attaches to the oil tank and crosses over to the opposite side of the bike. It is hose clamped to something like a lug on the bottom of the bike frame.
