Need a new switch.
You have a problem with your multifunction switch, probably the only way to fix it is to replace the switch.
yep.
The wipers on my 1998 Honda Civic were stuck on low so I assumed it was the switch and replaced it, but the problem continued. The local Honda dealer told me that I should replace the motor, which I did, and the problem was fixed.
Problem with multifunction switch in steering column
remove the wipers, turn on wiper switch, turn off switch, reinstall wipers @ bottom position torque nuts enough to secure the arm. turn on switch readjust as needed.
A bad relay switch will cause the windshield wipers to not turn off. Replace the relay switch and the windshield wipers should turn off.
It is most likely the wiper stalk/switch. Try pulling the fuse for the wipers. If that stops them, then it is the stalk/switch.
I have the same problem in my caprice, what you need to do is just sit there and switch it to high for a few minutes, then eventually if you keep playing with it it will turn off when you switch it to the far left
More than likely the problem isn't the switch. The problem is the wiper motor is very weak and needs replaced.
it is possible
Self switch wipers switch off at a pre-set point regardless of when the driver turns the wipers off Self parking is a development of this and moves the wipers below the screen when not in use. This improves vehicle aerodynamics & reduces injuries to pedestrians For more info try Fundamentals of Motor Vehicle Technology Book 3 or Bosch Automotive Electrics / Automotive Electronics
The wiper motor has a switch inside of it. When they are turned off and the wipers go to the down position it trips the switch in the motor that tells the computer they are in the down position. If that switch in the motor is faulty, the wipers are repositioning until the switch is tripped to the off position. THE FIX.... Replace the wiper motor.
