Open and close all the doors, slamming them hard to close them. If you are absolutely sure there are none open, have your car repaired.

Sounds like there is a problem with the door ajar switches. There is one on each door. It looks like a push button. It is usually located on the hinge side of the door. Try spray some silicone spray and working it in and out.If that doesnt work then one will have to be replced. Try one door then the other to find the bad one. switch is inside door and is part of latch can be unplugged i did mine

If your door ajar light remains lit all the time, try spraying some wd-40 on the door latch. This really works! I just did it with my 98 Ranger and the Door Ajar light went off. Spray WD40 in the door latch for a couple seconds and it should fix it. I have a 96 Lincoln and the drivers door ajar warning light would do off and on and after a month or two, it would stay on all the time. I was outside the car looking in the car and noticed when I pushed against the upper right corner of the drivers door the light went out. Apparently the sensor for the light in located behind a small plastic cover in the body of the car. The inside of the door was quite dirty and I cleaned it and nows it works again. I just tried the WD40 on both door switches, IT WORKED. The door ajar light went out. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i also tried wd40 on my latches. took care of the problem lickedy split. Genius!! 2nd ford truck with the same problem (I sold the first one) and worked immediately. I had this issue on my 98 Windstar. It is with great joy that I can say HAD. The answer was going to a mechanic that had worked in a junk yard and had litterally dismantled them. They were fixing something else and I mentioned what a pain it was to have that bell dinging all the time. The manager said he had a guy that could fix it easily. The fix I have didn't involve touching the doors, latches, contacts, or anything like it. Not a door was opened except the one to gain access to the underside of the dash. In about 15 minutes from my presenting the keys to the problematic car, he went under the dash, found the relay that had the dinger attached to the end, and popped the dinger module off, leaving the relay to do its work, but silently. The relay is a cylinder about 1" in diameter, black, with a 1/8" hole in the center for that damn bell to ding from. It has a place to insert a standard screwdriver on the side along a joint (between dinger and relay). He apparently twisted the screwdriver which popped off the end which broke the two connections to the bell and then "SILENCE". He came into the waiting room, tossed the part on the desk and said the relay will never ever ding again. It didn't and hasn't even though the door is still "ajar". Relief. I can't speak for all the Ford dinging problems, but the Windstar of 98 has an easy fix if you can find someone that knows something. The best part is that with the dinger gone, I know it will never come back, kind of like cutting the vocal chords of a bad singer. Good luck to you out there, hope your fix can be this easy as well.

You probably have a bad or sticking door ajar switch. The door ajar switches on the 1991 Accord are easy to find. On each door opening, the door ajar switch is the black plastic sliding mechanism that is located just below the metal door latches. Check to make sure that they are all sliding smoothly. If you don't here a clicking noise when you move each of them back and forth, it may be bad. If they are sticking, purchase some electronic cleaner spray and clean the switches. DO NOT use WD-40 as it will attract dirt and cause your switches to stick again.

You should be able to find a little rubber covered button somewhere on the door frame - you should be able to pull this out and disconnect the wires that go into the little button.

There are door switches that cause the light to go off. Shut all doors and press gently on each door to see if the light goes out. If not then the door switches will need to be removed one at a time to find the bad one.

If you are wanting to know where the relay is, it is under the dash on the drivers side right by the hood latch. You have to pop the piece of plastic out to access the fuse/relay box. there will be 5 relays and quite a few fuses. The door relay is the number 1 relay on the panel (top left). The number 2 relay is the battery saver relay. They are interchangeable. There are 3 addtional larger relays in positions 3~5. You can find what these go to if you look in your owners manual. If your door ajar is staying on and you have checked the relay, open the door and spray the door latch on the door with WD40 and open/close the door a few times. A lot of times, the switch gets stuck and needs to be lubed to start working again.

I had the same problem with my 02 Ford Ranger the sensor is inside the door (genius idea ford). no amount of wd40 helped. luckily for me it was my passenger door. I just unplugged it and the dome light doesn't turn on for the passenger door but works find for the driver's door.

all door ajar switches bad? not likely. try closing the doors one at a time until you find which one or ones are bad. to remove the door panels there are two bolts under the arm rest remove and slide the panel up. on front door you will have to remove the triangle moulding at the a pilar ussally black. and remove the Phillips screw. the door ajar swithes are in the latch assembly. make sure not to mix up left from right as they only fit one way. remove all the rods on the latch before removing the latch from the door. this will prevent any bending of the rods. the switch has a half turn install. make sure when installing the new one, that it dose not move when put back in. if it dose you have the wrong switch or it is not installed correctly. All you need to do is to spray WD40 on all the door latches!! works every time...
