Usually it is NOT a problem with the sending unit. Low oil pressure is typically caused by worn rod and/or main bearings. This is typically caused by poor engine maintenance. THIS IN FACT TURNED OUT TO BE A BAD OIL SENDING UNIT. BY THE WAY THE THIS ENGINE IS MAINTAINED PROPERLY. Check for loose grounds to engine. There are several. My 2001 Aurora has had sevral oil pressure transducers replaced. Just recently right after another was replaced the car was on the rack at the AC mechanics shop. He noticed an arcing ground to the engine. It is possible that the electricl surging has been burning out the semiconductor in the transducer. The same mechanic found a broken ground to the compressor clutch and a leaking AC sensor. Fixed them all and the AC works! Hope he also fixed the oil pressure sender problem.

Why do you lose oil pressure when your oil is full?

Either the oil pump on the vehicle has failed which is highly unlikely. More than likely the oil pressure sending unit is defective. Replace the sending unit and if the problem is still there seek professional help. Do not drive this vehicle until you solve the problem.

Why does your oil light keep coming on your peugeot 207?

Low oil pressure, or the oil pressure sending unit is defective. If the oil level is full, then the oil pump is weak or the sending unit is bad. Replace the oil pressure sending unit and see if that solves the problem. If not, seek professional help. Do not continue to drive the car in this condition.

Why does the oil light keep coming on my f150 even if its full?

Defective oil pressure sending unit or the oil pump is weak. Replace the oil pressure sending unit and if the problem persists seek professional help and have an oil pressure test run. Make sure you are not overfilling the crankcase.

Why does your 94 Oldsmobile 98 keep saying oil pressure send problem?

It is either the sensor is bad, or there is not enough oil pressure. You could replace the sending sensor and see if that clears up the problem, otherwise you are looking at a more major problem dealing with your oil pump etc.

Can a faulty oil pressure switch cause the vehicle to not start?

No, not unless the vehicle is designed to shut off when the oil pressure falls below a certain level. Replace the oil pressure sending unit to find out.

What makes the oil light in a Neon sometimes come on when you stop?

First thing to do is replace the oil filter with a quality filter such as Purolator. If the condition persists then you have another problem. A defective oil pressure sending unit may be the culprit. Replace the sending unit if after performing a oil pressure test you find that the pressure is fine. Severe engine damage will occur if this condition is not corrected and the engine indeed is running with low pressure. Do not continue to drive this vehicle with this problem. Although the light may be going out when moving, the pressure may still be low enough to cause damage.

Would the oil pressure sending switch leak oil and then stop?

It developed an leak and then for whatever reason sealed itself. Replace the oil pressure sending unit.

What might cause a 1995 Geo Metro oil light to stay on?

Low oil pressure. Now the question is does it really have low oil pressure or is this a false reading. Check the oil level and add as necessary. If it was low that is your problem. If not, You need to check the oil pressure sending unit for loose wires or a leak. If you find it is OK, then you will need to see if you indeed do have low oil pressure. You can have someone run an oil pressure test or you can simply replace the oil pressure sending unit as it may be defective. I would also replace the oil filter and make sure you are using a good quality correct filter. If replacing the sending unit, checking the oil level, and replacing the filter does not correct the problem, you will need to have an oil pressure test run. If you find you have low or no pressure, the oil pump has probably failed.Low oil pressure. Now the question is does it really have low oil pressure or is this a false reading. Why does your oil light keep coming on when you have been driving for a bit?

Low oil pressure or defective oil pressure sending unit. Can be low if oil or the oil pump is failing. Check the oil and if it is full replace the oil pressure sending unit. If this does not solve the problem, change the oil and replace the filter with a quality filter, such as Purolator. Make sure you are using the correct weight oil and the correct size filter. If the problem persists, then seek professional help and stop driving this car until you do.

How do you test your oil pressure?

Remove oil sending unit and replace with a mechanical gauge

Oil light comes your 2005 dodge neon when you stop?

The very first thing to do is check the oil level and change filters. Switch to a quality filter such as Purolator or Wix. If the problem persists, replace the oil pressure sending unit. If the problem still persists, have your oil pressure tested.
