getting to the actuator is easy..... how to remove the rods attached to it is something else.....
unlock all of the doors, either on your key or from inside the car by pressing the unlock button manually. you have to press it twice to unlock all of the doors.
when you turn the key in the passenger door lift the handle at the same time turn the key fully to left on a right hand drive beamer you should now be able to get in. I have a 525i and I was told by a BMW tech that even if you do not have power to open the doors you can manually use the key on the passenger side door by turning it pas the normal area it will unlock that door. I have read that the early E34 series cars have issues with the mechanisms in the doors that unlock the doors. Does this happen to all doors or just some of them?
if your vehicle is equipped with remote to unlock doors it will work that way, otherwise you must unlock from the inside.

I have a SLk 230 1999 I have to manually unlock the doors and the truck My baby is on sit because I cant put gas in it... the doors are unlocked, the doors are unlocked
Manually you can unlock the door using the inside lock (above the handle). Toggle it so the 'red' portion shows and the door is unlocked. With the remote, press the (unlock) button twice. The first press unlocks the driver side door, second press unlocks the passenger side. There's yet another option. You can set the door locks so both the driver and passenger doors unlock when you put the transmission in park (and lock when you put it in gear). You'll find that information on page 22 of your owners manual. Actually, you'll also find the other 'how to lock/unlock' info in the owners manual too. Cheers
there is a pull up and push down button on top of the door panel that you manually work.
lock both doors, and then unlock only the passenger door with the key.
Press the " U " on the lock/unlock switch located on either the driver or passenger door.
i have a old buick park ave the back doors will not unlock the door will not open inside or out there is no place for a key they did not make them with a key hole help Power locks? Either pull the fuse that controls them or disconnect the battery. You should be able to unlock them manually then. One of the switches is stuck possibly. If this works, you can disconnect the lock to the back doors and just lock them manually.
First thing I'd do is check the fuse for the power doorlock circuit.
