It's a matter of replacing the reverse position swith in the transmission. This switch tells the computer wheter it's in neutral, or reverse and when in reverse it triggers the reverse lights.

Spend the extra money and get that exact fluid or you may be one of the many people who have spent $3,000 because they tried to save $20 by using a substitute fluid that joe the mechanic told them would work just fine.

Hey. I hate to give you or anyone with the same problem any bad news. But I have a 2000 prelude type sh. It want go in reverse check the cables under the car or take it to a transmission shop it could be that. But my cable was fine and it turned out to be my transmission. Hope this helps
