Harriet Tubman, Dred Scott, look in a history book.
Minty is a fictionalized story about the life of Harriet Tubman, a former slave who became a significant figure in the Underground Railroad. Tubman grew up on a plantation in Maryland. She eventually escaped and assisted many other former slaves in doing the same.
She jumped out the second story window, then caught a stagecoach to Memphis.
That would be Harriet Tubman. Her story is very interesting. I suggest doing some research on her and the Underground Railroad.
Because she led slaves to freedom paralleling the biblical story where Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. She was called Moses (and if you ask me was very similar and deserved this title!) because she led people through the underground tunnel from slavery to freedom and safety!
The message Harriet is giving to her sister for the story a glory over everything is that Harriet and her three borthers going to get sold by the south chain gang.
