What leukocytes responsible for releasing histamine and other mediatoir of inflammation?

The Basophil is the leukocyte that releases histamine and other mediators of inflammation; contain heparin, an anticoagulant.

Function of a basophil?

Basophils appear in many specific kinds of inflammatory reactions, particularly those that cause allergic symptoms. Basophils contain anticoagulant heparin, which prevents blood from clotting too quickly. They also contain the vasodilator histamine, which promotes blood flow to tissues.

Is phagocytic a characteristic of all leukocytes?

No per Marieb. Basophils just release histamine and mediators of inflammation and they also contain helarin. Lymphocytes mount immune response by cell attack or via antibodies. The rest do phagoctytize.

Compare and contrast erythrocytes and leukocytes Be sure to include similarities and differences of structure and function?

Erythrocytes are larger than leukocytes. Erythrocytes have no nucleus while leukocytes have nucleus. Leukocytes remove and/ or destroys things that are considered "abnormal" in the body while erythrocytes carry oxygen to all body cells. Leukocytes are large round cells that do not contain hemoglobin while erythrocytes contain hemoglobin, are shaped as biconcave disks that bend, flex travel through narrow blood vessels and have a large surface to volume ratio. Erythrocytes and leukocytes are both classified as formed elements (lower layer). They both are main components of the body are necessary for the body to function properly.

All leukocytes contain only a single nucleus so when observed under a microscope why does it appear that some of the leukocytes have more than one nucleus?

They contains granules in its cytoplasm, and cell splitting may be occuring.
