I found this online:
I discovered yesterday that this 3.8l has 2 different intake gasket thickness's 3 or 4mm. I found thru here that intake gasket failure was common on the 3.8l. They saided that they improved the gasket making it thicker.
So I'm gonna go ahead with the 4mm. Let us know how it went for you.
Yes, there is a gasket in there. Felpro P/N 70415 for models w/o an oil coller, Felpro P/N 70801 for models with an oil cooler. Now if you can just get the filter out of the way you're golden!
They have problems with yhe intake manifold gaskets. Felpro has a improved set that do not leak.
Never have seen a bad head gasket on a 3800 engine. The upper intake will leak coolant into the imtake ports and a greedy mechanic will tell you it's head gaskets. You may need to replace your oil pan gasket with a felpro perma dry gasket, cost more but worth it.
Which plenum-intake or. . . .
The oil filter gasket is built into the filter itself, so just by changing the filter, you always get the new gasket.
Could be the head gasket. Very common problem with this engine and model year Windstar.
sadly u cant get another head gasket for an aztek so you can either get anothers head gasket and try to fit it in(try a gm kind) or scrap the car.if you sell the car you can only get like $900 from it so there is no point
They are an older style of gasket. Mainly found in years below 2000. Its often the OEM replacement for 90's cars. If you are able to, go with MLS gaskets. They are far stronger and will generally last longer. But you would probably be ok with graphite gaskets.
No - the head gasket repair can be done with the engine still in the vehicle.See "Related Questions" below for more
This would be a primary symptom of a blown head-gasket.
The difference between the two is that an asbestos gasket uses asbestos as a reinforcing fiber while a non-asbestos gasket does not.
You should use whatever the car manufacturer calls for...some want paper, others rubber or plastic, and still others want you to use sealant.
