Best Answer

A> What is the pan thing under the Rear seat behind the drivers?

B> That would be the access hatch for the float mechanism which measures the amount of fuel available in the tank and forwards that data through to the fuel gauge. If it ever needs replacing, the one and only access to replace the float without removing the entire fuel tankwould be that!

But back to the question originally asked, you dont specify which Golf you're referring to, and im only familiar with the Golfs 1, 2, and/ or 3 in this aspect. If its eiither Golf 1, 2 or 3, then you would need to remove the left front wheel, and the end cap of the gearbox would be visible past the strut, damper, etc. This is normally green in colour with 'VW' embossed on it. The oilf filler location is slightly to the right of this cap. Normally takes a size 17 HEX to open.

Thanks, !!
