my daughter has a 2000 Chevy Astro van, just had the same problem--right after she filled it up with gas--stopped @ a few stores came out of store and would crank but not kick in--the van sat overnight then started right up-- but would not start again----we replaced the fuel pump. worked like a charm! I know this is a bit expensive but you can find these on line at a nice price--just make sure you get a fuel pump module or assembly--the gas tank has to be dropped also.
we did our daughters for 400.00 labor and parts-----hope this helps

The problem is in spark, or fuel. Rarely the Crank angle sensor. ECU could be going bad too.

you need a new batteryA Different AnswerIf the engine cranks, then the battery is not the problem. Inspect the spark plug and clean/replace and gap to specs. If the spark plug is okay and has a good "fat" spark, then the problem lies in the fuel system. The fuel filter may be clogged and not allowing the fuel to reach the combustion chamber, or the fuel float may be stuck closed.
My 1999 Plymouth neon 2.0 dohc wouldn't start on some days but then would be fine. Now it cranks but won't start at all.. Has a new battery and good fuel pressure. What could cause this?

I would suspect that if it is getting fuel and not starting it would be that it is not getting any spark. If you find that it is not getting spark you could check: Ignition module Crank position sensor Engine control module Associated wiring and connectors
