This question appears to ask if Abraham Lincoln was in favor of slavery. With that said, Lincoln as a private citizen, was opposed to the institution of slavery in the United States. As a candidate for the Office of US President, and after he was elected US President, Lincoln had not changed his personal views that slavery was wrong. However, Lincoln was President of all of the USA, and believed that:

A. As Chief Executive, he had no power under the US Constitution to end slavery;


B. That in order to keep the Union whole, he made it clear that he had no intentions of trying to remove slavery where it already existed; and


C. His intent was that slavery be not spread to US Territories or to new States.

Lincoln was against slavery and that's why the Civil War went raging on.

During the Civil War, Maryland, Delaware, and Kentucky were slave states but remained with the Union.
