Mary was the mother of King James VI. This is a complicated history so it is condensed. Briefly:

Mary Stuart was also known as Mary Queen of Scots. Henry VIII's oldest sister, Margaret Tudor, was Mary Stuart'sgrandmother- Henry VIII and Margaret were children of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Margaret Tudor married James IV, King of Scots. Their son became King James V.

Mary, Queen of Scots, aka Mary Stuart, was the only surviving legitimate child of King James V of Scotland and his French second wife Mary of Guise. She tried to claim the throne of Elizabeth I (as the senior descendent of Henry VIII's elder sister Margaret) but failed. Her second husband was Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, with whom she had a son who would become James VIwhen she was forced to abdicate the throne of Scotland.

After escaping from Scotland she sought refuge with Elizabeth I after being forced to abdicate the throne of Scotland in favor of her infant son. After eighteen years of confinement Elizabeth I ordered her execution.

No. Altough the marriage had been agreed it was never carried out.

Instead Mary married Francis, the Dauphin of France, when she was 16.

After his death she returned to Scotland and married Henry Stuart, her cousin (Lord Darnley)

After Darnley's murder she married James Hepburn, the Earl of Bothwell.
