Not really. He was one of Rome's greatest generals, but as emperor (14 AD - 37 AD) he was aloof and indecisive. Toward the end of his rule, he left governing to others, a notable exception being his actions against the consul Sejanus in 31 AD.

Trajan was one of the most successful military commanders in Roman History. He conquered the kingdom of Dacia (in part of modern day Romania) following raids into the Roman Empire by the Dacians. He also defeated the Parthian Empire (the second of the four pre-Islamic Persian empires), conquered Mesopotamia (which belonged to the Persians and briefly captured Ctesiphon and Susa, the two capitals of the Parthian Empire.
