<P>Indirectly. It was really over land and easy access to the Persian Gulf. Iraq invaded Kuwait, wanting to take over the oil fields and the pipelines that would allow easier ability to ship oil. Kuwait was a good trading partner with most of the world and was well respected. The rest of the world banded together and pushed Iraq back out of Kuwait.
