Probably not. Communism was a totalitarian, utopian philosophy system.
The Communists in the Soviet Union truly believed that if they took over the whole world by force and implemented communism, that once the workers in factories, farms, and other businesses collectively owned and managed their workplaces, they would achieve paradise on Earth, all over the world.
Totalitarianism is taking over and making everyone live a certain way, all their lives, and having strict rules that govern almost everything people do in their lives.
Utopianism is believing that a particular form of government, or a particular way of living and believing, can be made perfect so that practically everybody is happy, healthy, and has plenty of everything, all the time.
People who are true believers in a totalitarian, utopian philosophy system blame all their problems on one of two things: 1) people living under their control aren't doing a good enough job of living according to their philosophy, or are rebelling against their philosophy or 2) they haven't taken over the whole world yet and all those people in those other countries aren't living according to their philosophy.
They tend to readily use violence in the name of the greater good, asserting that the ends justify the means.
As long as other countries in the world weren't communists, and the people and leadership of the Soviet Union remained true believers in communism, the Soviets were going to keep trying to use military force to take over the world and MAKE everybody be communist or die.
Since the US would not voluntarily become communist, there was no way to prevent the Cold War.
