All English colonies were founded as homes for English colonists. That's kind of the whole point of a colony.
AnswerReligions in the southern colonies were the bases of life. The reasons the colonies were founded were to procure religious freedom. Granted, some of the colonies broke away from this founding, but colonies like Maryland were founded specifically to be a haven of religious freedom to all Christians. This means that you could go there and worship the jesus and none would stop you. But mostly the main religion in the southern colonies were the Anglican faith.

Well, All I can give you right now is that the middle colonies were also known as "The Bread Basket Colonies" because of their plentiful supply of grains, oats, wheat, etc. I also know that Pennsylvania was named after William Penn who founded it in the year of 1681. The reason Penn founded such a colony was because the Quakers, (which was a religious group that Penn belonged to), Were treated badly in England, ie. Persecution. Pennslyvania allowed people of all religions and races to live within the colony.

King Charles II tried to unite the colonies, but it didn't work because the colonies were all founded for different reasons and therefore didn't want to be united.
