The Indo-French War in Indochina lasting 10 years with only the French and the Indochinese (now called Viet Namese) in the conflict. The Viet Namese wanted to have self rule and not be a possession of France ruled by the French. This happened to many of the colonial nations of imperialist nations. Most of the countries such as England and The Netherlands gave up their colonies in Asia but the French did not therefore the Viet Namese revolted. That war continued when the northern communists wanted to rule the nation and the southern half of Viet Nam did not want to be communist. So poor Viet Nam (Formerly Indochina) battled for nearly thirty years.

Simply sending their navy and army on boats around the Cape of Good Hope into the Indian Ocean could subjugate the warring tribes. Then, they set up French cities there. They held the colony until the 1950s, when rebellions against the French made it impossible to maintain foreign control.
