It is the story of 2 lovers in the Middle East who occupy connecting houses, forbidden by their parents to be wed. Through a crack in 1 of the walls, they arrange to meet at a mulberry bush and state their feelings for eachother. Thisbe arrives first, but when she sees a lioness with a bloody mouth from recent kill, she ran away, leaving behind the veil she was wearing. Then the lioness tears it up and leaves blood stains on it. Then Pyramus comes and sees Thisbe's veil and the blood and the lioness and thinks the lioness had eaten her. He then kills himself. Thisbe soon came back to tell Pyramus the story of what happened to her when she sees him dead on the floor. After a brief period of mourning, she kills herself. The combined blood of the bodies seeped into the ground staining the previously white mulberry bush purple. Thus, the mullberry tree became a symbol of the deaths of the 2 lovers. Hope that helps XD $arahh
