Nothing was really written down but it's said he did everything from circumnavigation to discovering the Americas. What is known is that he was the Emperor's' favorite eunuch and in charge of the naval fleet. He established trade routes all up through and to the Mediterranean and kept them working until the emperor basically disbanded the navy.

hmm, Zheng He was the admiral of the treasure fleet, wasn't he? What in God's name does that have to do with WW2? Disregarding the categories... The treasure fleet proved to China that there was no land as great as theirs, in art, culture, history, and wealth. They concluded that contact with the outside could only let in lesser cultures, who would parasitize Chinese greatness. Thus, China isolated itself for the nest 4 centuries, slowly fading from being THE empire in the world, to a technologically backward and stagnant nation by the time the Europeans showed up. It's probably simply because there were no strong enemies against which China had to struggle at this point, unlike the Europeans who were forced into technological development by the constant strife and competition between nations. China had centuries of relative peace while Europe stewed in unrest and war all that time, but where Europe came out stronger for it, China came out weaker. Japan was able to quickly modernize after it's self imposed isolation (unfortunately they became a despotic imperial nation), China was not.

Zheng He was a born into a family with some Hui family with some Arabic Persian heritage in 1371. He was made a slave by the Ming general Fu Youde when he was 10 years old. He was castrated and entered into the service of Zhu Di, who eventually became Emperor. Zheng He helped the Emperor defeat Zhu Di's rivals take the the city of Nanking. He was given the title Grand Envoy and sailed to many ports as far as the Indian ocean and the coast of East Africa to collect treasure for the Emperor. When he returned to China, Zhu Di had died and the next Emperor did not want tribute voyages. Zheng He directed the building of the Tianfei Palace.

Some say he was the first to sail around the world (87 years before Columbus), though it's not 100% certain. Also you have put this in the wrong place. Zheng He was Chinese not Japanese
