What animals did Hernan Cortes find on his journey?

I remember reading one animal was a rattle snake .. the Spanish described it as a snake with cascabeles on its tail. The Aztecs had in their capital a zoo with many animals and huge staff devoted to its maintenance. Would have to dig deep into books to find out exactly what other animals he discovered. Most would've probably come from the section where he describes Montezuma's zoo.
