The name of the First Family's dog is "Bo." Malia and Sasha picked the dog's name.
He is a Portuguese Water Dog from the same breeders of the Portuguese Water Dogs that belonged to the late Senator Ted Kennedy. Senator Kennedy recommended the breed when he found that the President was looking for a dog breed that is usually not a problem for those with dog Allergies. The Obamas added Bo to the family when he was just a puppy and he has grown into a beautiful specimen of the breed.
On August 19th, 2013, the Obama's added a second Portuguese Water Dog to the family. Her name is Sunny. She is a year old.
