A universal joint, U joint, Cardan joint, Hardy-Spicer joint, or Hooke's joint is a joint in a rigid rod that allows the rod to 'bend' in any direction, and is commonly used in shafts that transmit rotary motion.
They are Ujoints not 'you' 1310 is 3.219" 1330 is 3.625" 1330 is for the Rubicon.
actually I just had this problem and believe it or not it was the driveshaft u joints. It could also be your catylac converter. Get under the truck and hit the converter with your hand. If you here some rattling noises your converter is shot. Too check your ujoints just give the driveshaft a good wiggle to see if ujoints are shot
Drive shaft play/possible worn/bad ujoints /driveshaft
It has both. As a rule:--U-Joints are usually found on drive shafts and CV joints are usually found on half shafts.
Most probably, but to be sure measure both shafts from the centres of the ujoints and make sure the measurements are the same. Hope this helps.
check that the pinion nut on the differential is not slightly loose. have drive shaft balanced. check transmission and engine mounts
Sounds like a u joint, have it checked and done at a shop. Ujoints in chevrolets are glued in and are not a diy project, unless you have a 15 ton press at home. Then by all means press them out and replace them.
Ujoints on drive shaft. third member in rear end.Locked up motor.A friend of mine used to weld the brake hubs on his rivals cars while they were shopping.
If 4x4, replace steering dampner that is a bandaid, is not addressing the real problem. could be worn or bent steering parts, bad ujoints, out of alignment or bent or unbalenced wheel.
Have the ujoints inspected. As they get old and worn they will develop play and the reason it thumps is caused by the ujoint being at one side then you shift towards another direction and it switches sides essentially hitting and causing your thump.
Probably the rear end making noise. Make sure it is filled with lube and wait for it to get worse.
check the fluid in the rear end it might be dry causing medal to grind causing a clunk noise or the gears in the rear end or worn done causing it to do the same thing
