Unnatural food colourings are derived from petroleum products, which can make them bad for human health (allergies, possibly carcinogens, can cause hyperactivity). (There's nothing bad in natural food colourings, unless you happen to be allergic to any of the ingredients).
Depends what the food colouring base is - any water based food colouring will not mix with the oil. Similarly, alcohol based food colourings. Oil based food colourings will mix just fine. Nothing spectacular happens, you just achieve coloured oil.
When children eat food colourings, nothing happens, there tongue just become the colour of the colouring, it stains and stays like that for about an hour, trust me, :$ I doesn't harm them because it is meant for food anyway, so there is nothing to worry about. Hope that helped in anyway, (:
Mostly boiled sugar, glucose, mint flavourings and colourings.
Almost all processed food contains colorings. Just give a example, a coke usually contains caramel as coloring.
Water should work well as food colourings are usually water soluble.
Yes, it's a very rare thing.
Many people think so, theo point is, in general why eat things that have no nutritional value.
If the food colouring is naturally derived (such as beetroot extract), it will do no harm (unless you have a beetroot allergy etc...). However some unnaturally derived food colourings are still petrochemicals, such as tatrazine yellow. These chemicals are known to have health side-effects (can make asthma worse, allergies, hyperactivity and possibly cancer). These unnaturally derived food colourings are best avoided where possible.
