There is a good list of trees and shrubs on the following website which states whether native or introduced. http://www.nature.british-towns.net/nature/07_cnam_british_trees.asp?page=1 Seems to be right, ie has Sycamore,Horse Chestnut etc as introduced and also has the oddities (eg Sorbus porrigentiformis, a rare whitebeam without a distinct common name). For pictures and a bit more detail look at: http://www.ukwildflowers.com/Web_pages/sorbus_porrigentiformis_whitebeam.htm

There are thousands of flowers which grow successfully in the United Kingdom. Apart from native plants any plants from a temperate climate are likely to grow successfully out of doors. Tender plants and tropical plants can be grown in a greenhouse or other structure which provides protection.
