Wrap your garbage in newspaper!
Before we had plastic bags, people would wrap their rubbish in newspaper. It seems that that good idea has come back. There is usually plenty of newspapers, what with free newspapers and local papers as well as newspapers we buy. It's easy to wrap up garbage in a few layers of newspaper which will hold it securely till it is taken away. Newspaper will also degrade easily, so we won't have plastic bags of decaying garbage filling up our landfill.

New answer... Burning rubbish gets rid of some of the parts that burn. Those parts get converted into simpler molecules and atoms. Some of the products are no longer considered rubbish, for example, carbon dioxide and various other hydrocarbons. But which only takes it to a new location. without getting rid of it.
