In England, the 'state' religion is the Church of England is a Christian - Protestant

There is also Roman Catholic

Then there are the usual selection of 'non-Conformist' religions - Baptist, Methodist, Presbyterian, Congregationalist, Seventh Day Adventist, and Mormon.

Besides these, there a number of non-Christian religions - Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism

Many years ago, religious observance was mandatory in the armed forces, and I recollect church parades on Sunday (tough if that was not your holy day). Personnel were divided into three groups - C of E, R C and O D. These were respectively, Church of England, Roman Catholic and 'other denominations'.

Having been christened in the Presbyterian faith, I was in the latter. We were taken to a Methodist service, and we constituted seven Methodists, two hundred odd Presbyterians ( our unit was 50% Scotsmen), four atheists, eight Jews, two Muslims and one Buddhist. We were a very compliant people.
