  1. Climate change. Global warming is causing climate change.
  2. Rising sea levels from melting ice caps and glaciers, and thermal expansion of the water.
  3. Permanent flooding of coastal cities and croplands. Disappearance of Pacific Island countries.
  4. Famine and crop losses in many countries, especially the poorer countries of Africa and Asia that have no other resources.
  5. Heat waves killing thousands of people every summer. This is already happening.
  6. Destruction of the habitats of many animal and bird species. Those who cannot move or adapt will die. Polar bears are a well-known example of this, but there are many others.
  7. The economies of many countries, including the biggest, will be severely hit. Insurance companies will be unable to continue.
  8. Weather events like cyclones, storms, tornadoes etc will become stronger. Extra warmth in the atmosphere is extra energy, and this energy will be expended in storms.
  9. Additional carbon dioxide in the atmosphere means that more is absorbed by the oceans. The oceans are already becoming more acidic, so shellfish and corals have difficulty producing shells.
  10. Climate refugees, countless millions of people, will be on the move from famine, drought and flood, seeking refuge in the richer and cooler countries.

Sea levels will rise, the polar ice caps will melt, and many animals like polar bears will be severely threatened. Problem is, currently it's not happening. Two straight years of much cooler than normal summers, and colder than normal winters here in North America. Many scientists agree there has been zero warming for nearly 17 years.

The climate changes, and that's a fact. Many have made dire predictions that have not happened. It seems now that all these bad things that are supposed to happen have been kicked down the road several decades, giving them time to change their prognostications. Basically, they do not know what the climate will be like in ten years. But for now, a cooling trend appears to be occurring.

Has there been global warming for the past 11 years?

Yes, the ten hottest years on record have all occurred since 1998.

How many gases are responsible for global warming?

They have varying 'levels' of Impact; at least Ten Different Molecules fit this description.

How can global warming cause colder winters?

Global Warming may or may not cause colder winters. Global warming refers to a climate change whereas colder winters are yearly weather patterns. On average the Climate and the World is warming up. It is a fact that the average temperatures are hotter than twenty or even ten years ago. So, whether you blame it on humans or natural cycles, global warming is happening. However, the colder winters we have had the past few years are possibly imperfections in global warming and may end soon. Also, some places are affected differently at different times. For example, the East had record snowfall this past winter, but other places had record heat this past winter. So yearly weather patterns can sometimes cause colder winters.

What are the world's top ten problems?

well, I'm not sure, but it could be natural disasters, deforestation, global warming, pollution, child abuse and labour, forest fires, waste management, war, oppression and poverty.

Is global warming real or is it just propaganda?

The science of global warming is not a hoax. No scientist has anything to gain by creating a hoax. In fact, any evidence that a research scientist has engaged in this would be career-destroying. The only employment open to trained scientists who value propaganda over research is in some sections of industry, but it is unlikely that any business would seek to create belief in global warming. As to whether global warming is real, the facts speak for themselves. The average global temperature is rising and has been doing so since the Industrial Revolution. The years 1998, 2005 and 2010 are regarded as the equal warmest years on record. The past decade was the warmest since instrumental measurements began in 1850, and the ten warmest years since 1850 have now all occurred since 1998.

If global warming is happening then why is the earth cooling?

Global warming is happening and the earth is not cooling. It is warming. 2010 and 2005 tied as being the two hottest years on record, and the ten hottest years since 1800 have all been in the past fifteen years.

Is global warming or global cooling happening now?

Some suggest that in the absence of other factors, there should be a slight cooling at the present time. Whether or not this is true, it is being swamped by a quite rapid warming effect. The consensus of climate scientists is that global warming is happening and is caused substantially by human activities. the last ten years were the warmest since instrumental records began in 1850.

What do climate models tell about slowing the increase of global warming?

Slowing the increase in Global warming can only be done by reducing the amount of heat that we generate every day. Without changes in our heat production the level of the oceanwill reach Ten foot in about thirty years.

Do people think global warming is happening?

Yes, most people accept that global warming is happening. They understand that the ten hottest years on record have all happened since 1995. They are beginning to experience more extreme weather events that are the result of climate change.

What will be the condition of earth in next 50 years?

There is way too much emphasis on "Man made global warming." There is no such thing. There is global warming and global cooling that has taken place over the past ten thousand years. It is cyclical. Most of the global warming that has taken place was prior to any use of fossil fuel. Don't let people try to pull the wool over your eyes. Don't let them scare you into their mold. That's what they are trying to do. The earth will be in fine shape in 50 years.

How will global warming affect Breckinridge County in the next decade?

It's not possible to say accurately what will happen to Breckinridge County in the future. Climate changes over the next decade might be hard to attribute to global warming. Ten years is a short time in climatic terms. Global warming is happening all over the world. Some places will be drier than before. Other places will be wetter than before. Warming causes weather, so more warming is certainly going to affect the weather. Low lying countries and coastlines and cities will be in danger from rising sea levels. Warming oceans expand, and this is causing the rise firstly. Melting glaciers and ice caps are a secondary reason. Places too cold for agriculture may be able to be farmed, but much of the present croplands may have to adapt or be abandoned if global warming continues.

Is global warming occurring or not?

Yes, global warming is still happening. After the record average global temperature set in 1998, there were several years of slightly lower temperatures, and some sceptics said that temperatures had reached a new plateau and were now stabilising, while others claimed that the world was actually cooling. However, the 1998 record was matched again in 2005 and slightly exceeded in 2010. Climate scientists say that the last ten years were the warmest since instrumental records began in 1850.

What are ten effects of global warming?

According to the latest and most comprehensive scientific assessment (the IPCC's Fourth Assessment of 2007):a rise in global temperature;a rise of sea levels;an increase in frequency of hot extremes, heat waves and heavy precipitation (regional);an increase in intensity of cyclones and hurricanes (regional);decreased fresh water availability (regional);impact on food-production chain (regional);increased risk of flooding of coastal areas affecting millions of people;increased health risks and mortality rates due to the above;increased economic impact of natural Global Warming related disasters (floods, heavy rainfall, heat waves, etc.)negative impact on eco-systems and the disappearance of species (animal and plants). There are more but I've limited to just 10. Read more about impacts at the link below.

Is there snow in Merced?

last time that it snowed in merced where it was measurable snow was back in 1998. Since then there has been some occasional flurries and traces of snow in recent years. It can snow if conditions are right, and with global warming like it is, it could snow again. The last time it snowed in Merced was around 2006. I've lived here since the early 70's and it's snows consistently about once every ten years. It has nothing to do with global warming. Weather is cyclical.
