Does the Catholic Bible include Leviticus?

Roman Catholic AnswerFunny thing about that, the Catholic Church wrote and approved the Bible, all approved Bibles are "Catholic Bibles". Without the Catholic Church there would be no Bible today. The only non-Catholic Bibles are protestant Bibles, and the only difference in them, is that they have removed some books from the Old Testament with which they did not agree. So, to answer your question, of course the Bible includes the book of Leviticus.

How many books are there in the Old Testament?

There are 39 books in the Protestant Old Testament from Genesis to Malachi. If there are more than that in your Bible, it is because it is a Catholic version (46), an Orthodox version, or includes the Apocrypha in the number. That is because the Septuagent was used as the source material. It contains more books than the Masoretic text and was thus not accepted as authentic by mainstream rabbinic Judaism. After the Protestant Reformation, many Protestant Bibles began to exclude the extra books which were not accepted by the Jewish community. However, some Christan Bibles include the disputed books in their own section called the Apocrypha. The Jewish Bible (from which the Old Testament is derived) only has 24 books, since the Christian Bibles split a number of the books into separate books.39 42 if you count right

What is the center book of the Bible?

This is a highly debatable question. Firstly it depends on which denomination's Bible is being used. The standard Protestant edition of the bible has only 66 books and therefore cannot have a "central" book. Both Catholic and Orthodox Bibles have more than this, and an odd number, 73 for Roman Catholic Bibles, and 83 for the broadest Eastern Orthodox Canon. (There are however some which have only 82 (The Ethiopian orthodox, however they may in fact have other books in their New Testament which may make the number odd). There is also an issue depending on which arrangement of books because not all Bibles used the same arrangement. For example, when the apocrypha was printed in the King James Bible, it was printed between the Old and New Testaments in a special section. however in Catholic Bibles the books were spread out in a more logical order, Wisdom and Ben Sirach in the Poetry section, Baruch after Nehemiah, Additions to Esther in the book of Esther, the additions to Daniel in the book of Daniel, and the Macabees between the prophets and the New Testament as it would have been historically. However some modern scholars have changed the arrangement again. So unfortunately the question you ask is very hard to answer correctly due to the huge variation in possible answers. In the standard modern Protestant Bible, the two middle books are Micah and Nahum.

Names of the versions of the Bible?

Jewish Bible (Old Testament only), Septuagint Bible (First time that the entire Old Testament was translated from Hebrew into Greek, in Alexandria, Egypt. Vulgate Bible (the Catholic Bible, tranlated into Latin, with extra or "apocryphal" books not contained in the Protestant Bibles). Lutheran Bible (translated from Latin into German). King James Bible (translated from Latin into English). NIV Bible, and many other Protestant Bibles. Also, many Bibles translated into a number of modern foreign languages.

Why does the Catholic version of the book of Esther differ from the Protestant version?

There may be slight differences owing to translation and interpretation of each word in the original, but the books are exactly the same. The only difference between a Catholic bible and a Protestant one is the Deuterocanonicals.

What Bible does a Catholic use and what does a Baptist use?

Yes, they are different. The Baptist bible, or any other bible that isn't catholic for that matter, has only 66 books. The Catholic bibble has many more books. These additional books, not found in your regular bible, are called the Apocryphal. These book are said to have more historical value.

How did the printing of the Holy Bible weaken the Catholic Church?

.Roman Catholic AnswerGreat heavens, NO. The Catholic Church has been printing the Holy Bible since the invention of a printing press, and for the fourteen centuries before that, thousands of monks spent their whole lives making new Bibles. Keep in mind that it was the Catholic Church that wrote and approved the Bible to begin with. Without the Catholic Church there would be no Bible today, and certainly would have been none around for the protestants to mutilate. As it is, M. Luther removed seven books from the Bible, and tried mightily to alter the New Testament as well, he was foiled in the later attempt by other heretics. The only printing of Holy Bibles that the Church objected to were error filled books claiming to be the complete Bible. Please see the link below for more:

How many times does the word believe appear in the Catholic Bible?

Roman Catholic AnswerThe only "official" version of the Bible is the Latin Vulgate, and being entirely in Latin, the word "believe" does not appear in it at all. It would be the word credo, credere. The only difference between the Bible as preserved by the Catholic Church for the last 2000 years and Bibles that are translations of the "reformers" in the sixteenth century is that "Catholic" Bibles still contain the books of the Old Testament used by Our Blessed Lord which the "reformers" rejected. The closest translation into English of the Vulgate would be the Douay Rheims translation, which contains the word "believe" 156 times. Other translations may vary, and there are several English translations approved by the Church.
