While no "typical" North American country borders the Mediterranean Sea, France has some of its départments in North America (like Guadeloupe and Martinique). This is similar to how Hawai'i is a US State that is distant from the US mainland. This would make France the only "North American country" to also border the Mediterranean Sea. There is no country with its capital in North America that borders the Mediterranean Sea.

The United Kingdom also maintains overseas territories in both North America (the British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, Bermuda, et al.) and in the Mediterranean (Gibraltar and Akrotiri and Dhelika). However, none of these territories constitute the United Kingdom proper, unlike the French situation.
