Unlock the tab on the large part of the cable near the carb linkage. Push the cable all the way into the large part and lock it back down. press the accelerator all the way to the floor from inside the car. ( NOT from at the carburetor as many will extend it too far)
It is now set.
The th350 tranny was not stock to the car, rather it was a 700r4. Either a new kickdown cable is needed for the conversion or adjustments made to the existing cable.
kickdown cable. it connects to the linkage on the carb's throttle. as the throttle goes in the kickdown goes out.
If the transmission shift selector is cable operated, the adjustment would be located at the transmission end of the cable, where the cable housing is attached to the bracket on the transmission.
You are asking two separate questions. The transmission has a cable, mechanical, kickdown. The distributor does not have a vacuum advance.
Usually that's the first sign of a transmission going bad.Overdrive sometimes goes out first. Also it could be a bad transmission sensor.A diagnostic check should tell you so.The sensors are cheap and easy to install. In older GM cars with the TH350 tranny, the "kickdown" cable could also be broken or not adjusted properly.
A Grand Caravan would have the 41TE transmission which does not have a throttle or kickdown cable.
Check kickdown cable or throttle valve cable adjustment. Also, check transmission fluid quality. If it's bad, replace it with fresh fluid.
Need more information... What year, make and model. Is it a 3 speed automatic ( TH350 ) or an overdrive (700R4). Does it have OEM carb or aftermarket.
