There is no difference. Petrol is just another name for gasoline. MPFI just means Multi-Point Fuel Injection. A petrol (gasoline) engine can be MPFI or it can have a carburetor. It can have many different ways to get gasoline (petrol) to the cylinders.
CRDI is common rail diesel injection where as MPFI is multi point fuel injection
Yes, Multi-Point Fuel Injection has been used for years on gasoline engines.
No. Spark plugs remain in Petrol engines. MPFI stands for Multi Point Fuel Injection, thus replacing the carburetor with injectors. Petrol engines need a source for ignition unlike Diesel engines, where the ignition happens due to compression.
Frederick William lanchester invented the earliest MPFI engine

1953 Chevrolet corvette
YES AND NO AS WELL The main disadvantage of carburetor is vapur lock in hot ambient temperatures petrol do form the homgeneous mixture with air but not always some tiems it goes in form of liqid also in cylinder the systems like mpfi replaced the carburetor and they inject the liquid petrol inside the cylinder
MPFI stands for Multi Port Fuel Injection and uses fuel injectors. each cylinder gets its own injector which administors a measured amount of fuel to each cylinder during the intake stroke. this is a very efficent fuel delivery system. Carburrators use vaccume created by the intake to syphon gas into the engine. this is the most basic of fuel delivery methods but with proper tuneing can also be an effective fuel delivery system. on the average MPFI will outperform Carb style systems altho Carbs have been used for years for hi performance applicatons.
it spilts the fuel into vapour under high constant pressure mpfi stans for it ejects the fuel into each cylinder

MPFI= Multi Port Fuel Injection
M.P.F.I. Multi Point Fuel Injection. This is a fuel injection system for gasoline engine.
