Great Lake States are those that surround the Great Lakes (which are technically one massive inland sea). These states are New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

Great Plain States are those that are in the Great Plains (a massive plain system stretching from Canada to Mexico). These states are Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas.
