Here are the most common engine configurations as summarized in Timberwoof's Motorcycle FAQ.
In addition to the comprehensive answer above, additional flat twins (boxers) were made by the Chinese, the Russians ( BMW copies) as well as Zundapp, and one by the Japanese. Thumpers come in varying configurations- depending on the angle of the cylinder which can be nearly flat as with Aermacchi 350 and Moto Guzzi Falcone, and at an angle of around 45 degrees in Panther and BSA Sloper. Of course most other single cylinder 4-strokes vary from upright to a few degrees off vertical, such as the approx. 24 degrees of the Vincent Comet. Two-strokes have come in some weird configurations, Honda made a V3 for a few years (two cylinders nearly flat in front, one nearly vertical, like a Ducati, with three carburettors in the "V"). Also, some "inline twins" (more commonly known as parallel twins) have the cylinders "fore and aft" i.e. longitudinal, like the Sunbeam.
Well, that depends on what motorcycle you are talking about. The are thousands of different motorcycles, each having a different ratio.
BMW manufactured its first motorcycle in 1923, the R32, which featured a twin cylinder, horizontally opposed engine (the so called "Boxer" engine). BMW Motorrad still uses the flat-twin boxer configuration, but now also manufactures motorcycles with a variety of engine configurations.
The purpose of a motorcycle engine is to propel the motorcycle forward via the gas or diesel engine. The motor of the motor cycle makes it different from other two wheeled vehicles, in that it is self propelled, as opposed to manually powered.
Like a motorcycle, it can range from about 100cc to 700cc or more
well most obviously a bicycle is not powered by an engine and a motorcycle is.

The Motorcycle & Engine division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries started manufacturing different motorcycle models since 1954.
There can be 3 different configurations for C2H5ClO
Engine size has nothing to do with the definition of a motorcycle. If it has 2 wheels, powered by an engine and has no pedals it's a motorcycle.
