Vietnam evolutionized jet aerial warfare (Dog-Fighting). Top Gun and Red Flag were direct products of the war. Installing guns on all US jets including the F22 are products of the Vietnam War.

Experimented with combustible tank shells with the new (at the time) M551 Sheridan tank in 1969. In Vietnam the M551 fired completely combustible 152mm tank shells. Knowledge gained from Sheridans in combat fed information to the creation of today's M1 Abrams MBT's 120mm semi-combustible tank round.

The Vietnam born AH1 Cobra helicopter gunship led to the creation of today's Apache helicopter gunship.
