Only three countries make up the island of Great Britain: England, Scotland, Wales.

The UK (United Kingdom) includes Great Britain and Ireland (since 1922 only Northern Ireland).
There are only three countries in Great Britain; England, Scotland and Wales. When Northern Ireland is added to make four, it becomes the United Kingdom although citizens of all four places are British in international law. Yes, I know it's ludicrous but that's the way it is.
