Genesis chapter 4 mentions Lamech as the descendant of Cain. Genesis chapter 5 mentions Lamech as the descendant of Seth. However, the two genealogies are so improbably similar that one or both is fictional. The names in the two genealogies are, although the exact order of Enoch, Irad/Jared and Mahujael/Mahalaleel has changed: CAIN .............. SETH Cain ................Cainan Mehujael ....... Mahalaleel Irad ............... Jared Enoch ............ Enoch Methusael ..... Metheluselah Lamech ......... Lamech
He had slain a man in his youth, and was also was father of Noah. Gen 4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begatLamech.Gen 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives...Gen 4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and ayoung man to my hurt.(The CEV translates verse 23 as:-" One day, Lamech said to his two wives, "A young man wounded me, and I killed him. ")Gen 5:28 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son:Gen 5:29 And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.
We do find several descendants of Cain with the same name as those of Seth, subject to translation of the original spelling:Adam ............................................. Adam........................................................ Seth........................................................ EnosCain ............................................... Cainan (Cain)Enoch ............................................ Mahalaleel (Mehujael)Irad ................................................ Jared (Irad)Mehujael ....................................... Enoch (Enoch)Methusael ..................................... Metheluselah (Methusael)Lamech ......................................... Lamech (Lamech)This would be more apparent in the above comparison if the order of Mahalaleel, Jared and Enoch are reversed. The reason is no doubt the syncretism of two originally separate traditions.
Lamech (Genesis 5:28+29)

CAin ANSWER: We do not know who Lamech killed. It seems by the Scripture that Lamech killed someone in self defense but we are not told who in the Bible( Genesis 4:19-24).
Lamech was the the first polygamist mentioned in the Bible. He killed both of his wives.
Lemech (not "Lamech") died five years before the Flood.
Methuselah
