A couple of things.
First, the transmission could have finally gotten around to breaking.
My bet is the shift linkage has gone out. Take out the seat bottom on the back seat and look at the transmission tunnel. You will find a little cover plate; remove it and the shift linkage is right there. After you can see the linkage, try moving the shift lever. If the lever moves and the part on the transmission it's linked to doesn't, you need to order a shift linkage off the internet (every VW parts house has these, because they break frequently). They're not expensive.
We can rule out the clutch because when they wear out, the car doesn't go.
You could also have broken the throwout bearing, which is the piece that makes the clutch go in and out, or the cross shaft, which connects it to the clutch cable. Hope you didn't break this because they're in the bellhousing and you have to drop the engine to get to them. Quick way to tell: shut the engine off and try shifting gears. If you can do it, you gotta replace these.
If this VW has an automatic shift, there could be a host of other problems.
Could be teeth problems or thirst or nausea
if it is automatic the transmission could be slipping if manual the throttle could be sticking
There is one mechanism on a turbo 350 for shifting into PRND21. I would not describe it as a shifting lever since it is a shaft sticking out the side of the trans case. For that reason your question doesn't make much sense. Perhaps rewording would help.
A transmission that is sticking would cause a 1997 Plymouth Grand Voyager to die after shifting it into gear. A problem with the ignition system could also cause this.
change the gearbox oil it is ATF you have sticking valves due to dirty oil. and oil all linkages.
Don't be stupid. No.
possible egr valve sticking open
two possible causes......it could mean you have a bad brake hose or a sticking caliper
Check the transmission for any problems/sticking parts.
The PCV valve on a VW cabrio, is the black circular thing sticking out the right hand side of the valve cover, its a dealer only part and costs about $80
the clutch adjustment.if its not hydaulic.
intake blown, there plastic and are famous for that, only needs to be replaced and you wont have anymore problems,if you dont youll have sticking valves, etc. coolant going to head, sticking valves
